Demistifying technology: it’s magic not magical” activity, March 2015

The “Demistifying technology: it’s magic not magical” activity took place on March 28, 2015 with the participation of learners, their parents, and teachers of the 1st, 25th and 11th Primary School of Volos. The activity was very positively received with active engagement of participants, both parents and learners, who worked in pairs implementing a basic Arduino construction with the guidance of computer engineers. The activity aimed at promoting the collaboration between parents and learners who were exposed to the magic of technology and built skills and confidence on non-trivial uses such as constructing and programming a robot to execute basic moves.

The learners and their parents were presented to basic functionality of the Arduino® platform and the corresponding programming environment that allows interaction with external constructions. Through the programming platform learners and their parents executed simple, introductory exercises such as lighting a led, producing sounds, and more.

A follow-up was scheduled to take place in May 2015 with the participation of the same parent-learner pairs as well as additional ones.
